While anchored in a bay in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, I spotted a small herd of deer from our boat. Intrigued, I jumped into the dinghy with my camera to investigate. As I approached, I found the deer running along an almost invisible path carved into the side of the embankment.
The combination of the interlaced pathways and the red Arbutus leaves created fascinating abstract patterns. The deer appeared to be defying gravity, and I love that it takes the viewer a few seconds to figure out what is happening in the scene.
