Meet The Judges

Gail Bisson

Gail is a retired family physician from Nova Scotia. She started photographing birds in 2009 and has been obsessed with improving her skills and learning everything about her subjects.

Over the years, she has had several images in Audubon’s Top 100 and several Highly Commended in Bird Photographer of the Year. In 2020, she won the Audubon Contest (amateur) and the Special Encounters Category of Bird Photographer of the Year. She also won the inaugural contest of Kingbirder 2020.

In 2021 she became a judge for WildArt Photographer of the Year, Kingbirder and a judge for Birdlife Australia Contest. She has also judged for many local provincial contests. She was a moderator for BirdPhotographers.net in 2020 and 2021.

Peter Brannon

Peter began photographing birds in 2012. Learning about their behaviors and characteristics led him into birding and bird photography. He has been active in the Audubon societies of where he has lived over the years which includes Nova Scotia and now Tampa.

His work has earned him numerous appearances in Audubon’s Top 100, NANPA Showcase Awards, Nature’s Best Backyards, as well as 1st in Birdwatching Magazine Photography Awards in 2019 and 1st in Share the View international (Macro category).

His work has also been featured in dozens of publications, including National Wildlife Federation publications and the Audubon Society.

Georgina Steytler

Georgina is an Australian nature photographer with a passion for birds, ethics and conservation. She enjoys teaching the art and ethics of bird photography through workshops, talks and articles. She has won numerous awards and published two books with Australian Geographic, For the Love of Birds (November 2021) and For the Love of Flora (October 2023).
