Meet The Judges
Ruth is a full-time professional nature photographer, writer, public speaker, workshop leader, coach, and consultant with 30+ years’ experience teaching nature photography.
She enthusiastically works with photographers from all skill levels, ages, and walks of life, including youths from 8-18 years, US Veterans, artists’ groups, people with disabilities, and other specialized groups.
Ruth writes for the Journal of Wildlife Photography and manages its monthly photo contest.
A Certified Interpretive Guide and Certified Texas Master Naturalist, Ruth is best known for her Texas bird and wildlife photography and professional guiding services on private south Texas ranches, Costa Rica, and numerous other locations.
For more than 20 years, Paul Queneau has served as Wildlife and Conservation Editor of Bugle magazine at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
He is also a freelance writer and photographer, and past president of the Outdoor Writers Association of America.
Paul’s work has appeared in Outdoor Life, Field and Stream, the Christian Science Monitor, Montana Outdoors, High Country News and various other national and regional publications.
Originally from Colorado, he lives in Missoula, Montana, with his wife Laura and sons Liam and Jackson.
Nature photographer, teacher, author, and inventor George Lepp became one of Canon’s first Explorers of Light in 1995 and is now a member of the Canon Legend program. He has shared his knowledge of all aspects of photography through hundreds of publications and lectures.
A founder of the North American Photographers Association, he has been honored with many awards, including Photo Media’s Photography Person of the Year, the Photographic Society’s Progress Award, and NANPA’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Lepp’s compelling images are known for their beauty, precision, cutting-edge technology, and environmental responsibility and are widely published and exhibited.
He earned a BA and honorary MSC from Brooks Institute of Photography.
