Good evening everybody,

Are there any tried and tested overviews of shutter speeds and ISO values that I can use as a starting point for BIRD photography (perched birds and birds in flight)?

I use Sony equipment.

I took this photo at 600 mm even though the sun had dropped and the seal was in a cove. I manually exposed for the seal and feel pretty good about the outcome. Sony A7V with the 200-600 mm lens. ISO 8000 shutter speed 1/1250. Fort Bragg, CA.

Hi everyone!

I just joined this group and am sharing a few photos from my trip to the beach yesterday. I shoot with an A7RV and my lens is a 200-600 normally but these were taken with my 70–300 because I broke my left thumb and am not supposed to use that hand. I got approval for the lighter lens, though so I am happily back to photographing birds!

I currently use a Sony A7II with 85mm and A7RIV with a 24-70mm 2.8 . I recently switched from Canon to get lighter system to carry in the field. I will also use a sigma 150-600 for wildlife.

I currently have been using a Sony RX10 IV bridge camera to photograph with since 2020 mainly birds with special interest in eagles, owls and hummingbirds.

Really enjoy the small size and 600 mm equivalent optical zoom but it has limitations in lower light conditions and resolution.

Really notice the limitations photographing owl nests…

Hi everyone! Looking forward to participating in this group! I sold my Nikon Z6 and purchased a Sony a 7 IV in December. Still learning the Sony set up, but I am blown away by the detail and focusing system of this camera!

Would have loved to share more photos but I am struggling with getting my files small enough to post!
