Male Gadwall, Canon R6 Mk II , Canon RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM w/ RF 2x Extender at 1,600mm, f/20, 1/250 sec., ISO 3200, on tripod w/ gimbal head. Just to demonstrate that detail loss reports often quoted for that lens and especially with extender are more of a skill issue.

Can someone explain to me what’s acceptable editing with dodge and burn in the photo contests. Lightroom doesn’t have this feature anymore so what is allowed besides basic global adjustments? Secondly, they say sharpening and denoise allowed csn we run these photos through DXO?

Hi all,

i’m new in the photography world. I began in July 2024 with an -almost- brand new Canon 7D Mkii with a 300mm F4.

I bought it from a friend which was using a 1D and the 7D was his backup camera… which he never used. The camera had less than 8000 shots.

Sometimes timing is everything. They were punching through skim ice that

froze thicker overnight and they were gone by the next morning.

Photo of the sun, this afternoon, shot from my front door. You can see the sun-spots, at the bottom, that are responsible for the aurora displays. DO NOT look at the sun without proper glasses or filters … I still have the filters from when I shot the October eclipse in Colorado.

Hello, I am new to the journal and reletivly new to photography. I have a canon 90d with a 100-400 IS II. I hope to upgrade to a mirrorless soon but waiting on the new r5 to prsent itself. The 90d is amazing although there was a learining curve as I had some experiance with a Rebel T7i. I added a recent picture 1/400 f5.6 ISO4000 at 400mm.

What’s your favorite medium tele for canon EF mount? The kit lens that came with my T5 is showing purple fringing (chromatic aberrations) on my photos from Alaska this week. I can edit it out, but think a better lens will serve me better long term. Budget <$1000; used ok.
